With a solid background in mechanical engineering and a passion for tackling complex projects, Jan-Floris is here to help guide project teams through the early stages of product development with creativity, precision, and a genuine collaborative spirit.

A technical journey through innovation
Jan-Floris’ career began with a deep dive into mechanical engineering, where he learned the ropes of product development from the ground up. From designing and testing prototypes to managing entire product development processes at a small agency, he quickly became known for his technical prowess. His journey took him through the challenging world of hardware and fittings, where he collaborated closely with teams in both Europe and China. He honed his skills in concept development and supplier coordination, which would prove invaluable in his future roles.
Moving into the automotive industry, Jan-Floris worked with pressure sensors used in fuel and air conditioning systems, gaining a wealth of experience in quality control and international project management with major clients like Audi and Volvo. His ability to manage product risks while ensuring innovation wasn’t stifled was a key strength during this time.
As an R&D Manager, Product Development Manager, and later Innovation Manager, Jan-Floris led teams through transformation, including during the fast-paced growth of a solar panel mounting systems company. It was here that he truly realized his passion for early-stage development and creativity in product innovation—qualities he is now bringing to his new role with us at BEACON.
Bringing a new perspective to project management
While Jan-Floris is stepping into the Project Manager role with a wealth of technical experience, his approach is deeply focused on the team. He believes that innovation is a collective achievement—one that thrives when people challenge ideas and collaborate effectively. His experience managing teams and handling diverse projects has equipped him with a keen sense of when to step back and let others shine. He knows the value of focusing on what truly matters and making sure all the right pieces come together at the right time.
His vision as a project manager is centered around identifying the unique elements that each project brings, whether it’s a new supplier or an emerging technology. With a sharp eye for detail and a creative problem-solving mindset, he is committed to guiding projects to success by ensuring all aspects are covered and that every team member feels valued and supported.

What truly sets Jan-Floris apart is his interpersonal skills. He thrives on fostering strong relationships within his teams and guiding everyone toward a shared goal. He believes in managing expectations clearly and keeping open lines of communication to avoid misunderstandings and maximize efficiency.
His ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships, especially in the early, uncertain phases of a project, helps keep everyone aligned and focused on the bigger picture.
Personal insights
Outside of work, Jan-Floris is a man of many interests. A proud father of three daughters, he enjoys cycling and cooking, with his signature being delicious curries, much to the amusement of his family. He also has a unique hobby from his younger years—kite making. What started as a childhood passion for building kites has evolved into a cherished family activity, one that ties back to his love for creativity and hands-on work.
